It appears that this woman does not what the father to have any contact with their child whatsoever, and regardless of any previous court decisions has deemed it necessary to take this action, which can only be damaging for the child she admits is her major concern.

Middle child syndrome :-)
This doesn't appear to be about the child's bond with either parent in particular - rather the mother's bond with her child.
I'd agree Naomi, but you can't have one without the other.
I think you can. As Ummmm says, her bond was with her father, but it doesn't follow that her mother's bond with her child wasn't all-consuming. (I don't know if it was - just using Ummmm as an example - sorry Ummmm - but I'm sure you know what I mean).
'Does anyone hold the least sympathy for this mother?' Yes, me.
What has the mother done to deserve her child being taken off her? Must be something really serious and something that will affect the child's mental or physical health. Fathers are rarely given Custody. The sympathies I have are for the child, and for the Father who was denied any access to the child regardless of Court Orders. She has brought this on herself and does not deserve any sympathy. Not all mothers are Angels
as YMF said

it is very uncommon for the father to get custody of the child
2% I think

the father has run out of money they say and so is unrepresented in the current slew of cases

Earl Spencer got custody of the children when the countess waltzed out of the house ( palace surely ? ) and into the Argy polo player's jaloppy. The two children clawed at the windows crying " come back Mummy !" No a good omen for Princess Di - but that is life
