Consequently, it's Not that I am looking for high praise, but a mere indication that my advice was of some use or that another poster had provided the real answer to the problem......Feed back is important to us all and a little thank-you costs nothing.
Hans.
Hans.
I have noted your helpful advice Hans
and it would be nice to read later
yeah it worked thx
You should see the Law section - Barmaid is a particularly experienced practising lawyer in a difficult area called equity, and one dissatisfied poster asked - do you know what you are talking about ?
Melt down was NOT avoided

Simple......if you get free advice, then you don't value it.
AB is a free service and the quality of many posts reflect that.
If you comment on lack of replies you tend to be called arrogant.

Typical...well not really , but i am not surprised, as I have been told that i am too old to give answers on AB and should stop. I have also been told that some of my answers are jeopardising the lives of OPers.
Luckily the posters that do respect and thank your answers, make it worth while.

Sqad, I have noticed you are hardly ever thanked
[ but you chose a life of constant toil and no gratitude ]
but you clearly didnt work in the NHS long enough
I was warned by my parents the least grateful are the ones you went the extra mile for .... I always thought I was lucky not to be sued more often

I have commented on this topic in a previous thread. I'm not saying that a poster should lavish profuse thank-yous upon people who respond to their question: however, I'm curious as to why they ask something and then don't appear again on their own thread. For example, in the DIY section yesterday someone asked a question about mini-drills and did not respond at all, and according to their profile they are still active.
I remember that one OP, in the Crosswords section, asked for help in cracking a couple of clues. That help was given, and one ABer pointed out to the OP, when no acknowledgement was given, that a 'thank you' would have been nice. The OP replied, with genuine (I think) surprise, 'I didn't think that it was necessary.'
