and on to Istanbul - with the intent of going to Syria? Surely these are all legitimate flights? Intent to be a terrorist, okay - but theDewsbury group are all women and children.... I'm not talking about the morality of this here, the fact that the 3 mothers are exposing their children to a war situation is appalling, as is splitting the family - but, pray, what is illegal in travelling?

Nowt illegal DTC, it's all just wailing and gnashing of teeth with a wee bit of impotent outrage from professional talkative types.

Nobody outside of the family really, deep down, cares either.
One of the missing Bradford sisters has been in contact with a family member.

Apparently they've already been prevented from travelling previously.
As I see it, it is what you dismiss in the OP. The intent to be a terrorist, or aid the IS or whatever. Maybe post in the 'Law' forum to get the exact issue. Travelling to where they can join up would be part of achieving that.

Simple humane empathy can ensure folk care about the pain of others.
It's not Illegal, but In my opinion, the purpose of travel is the intension to join a terrorist group to inflict injuries to human life by taking there own, there own, the more the better, to the innocent it is murder.
How about endangering innocent British citizens (the children)?
Their>>>>>Their own.
Is there any evidence that they actually have travelled on to Syria? As far as I have seen it is tabloid speculation and hyperbole.

TWR, I really do look forward to the day when I understand the syntax of your posts!
Keep looking.
OK standard analysis - you have an illegal act linked to an illegal state of mind,

and here it is leaving the UK and the intent is to assist terrorism

I think.

and for the kids if I knew someone was planning to take their kids to a war zone, I would ring up the social workers.

( ringing the Police which WAS done apparently, was not any good )

And the poor Dads came on TV giving the best performance of their sad life.
They have undergone an airport security check before ( as ummmm say's ), earlier this year in fact.

Nothing illegal at all DTC, as far as I can see. But when there are 9 young British children involved and it looks as if their Mothers are taking them into danger in a war zone, I think we should rightly be concerned.
DT, you do realise that the scum are using children with their sad disgusting act's of terror, that's how brave these scum are.
I have been trying to work that out too. They are blaming plod but can you imagine the uproar among the F/0/J if the police started harrassing people travelling to the middle east generally?

It is all but impossible to get a Visa to enter Saudi Arabia. The airlines have to check that you have a visa before you get to board a plane. The only type of visa I could see them having would be a Haj visa , to go on the pilgrimage to Mecca. You even need a transit visa just to change planes in Saudi.
You have to apply for a Haj visa via your local Mosque who have to certify you are going for the Pilgrimage and are a practicing Muslim.
Its illegal to collect benefits for absent families ;)
Ah so thats why the husbands are crying, tambo.
