The people on the edges of America, East and West would probably consider a change in the gun laws. Those in the interior would be less considerate, I think. The United States has a lot of people, many of them have guns. Nothing will change.

The gun laws of each State are different, sometimes drastically so. The Federal Government has no direct control over them; therefore, the way it stands now, the President can do nothing. Although with some major political twists and turns he might be able to bring pressure to change the gun situation in the various States. But keep in mind that you cannot legislate attitudes.

While the American psyche remains routed in ‘frontiersman’ mode, which it very firmly does – then nothing will change.

As with so many thorny political questions, there is a perfect Catch-22 going on – in order to be in any sort of level of power to change the gun laws, you will already have proved time and again that you think they are just fine as they are.

Voting for gun legislation is a bullet to the head of any political career.

Banning guns in the States would be equivalent to banning the renowned British fry-up for breakfast...It just can't be done: it's an integral part of the custom, history, mentality, way of life.

The Americans have the right to bear arms, this will never change, it doesn't however mean they have to have ammunition.
