Could there not be a by law introduced in Windsor making it an offence to molest a Guardsman while he's on duty?
Good point AOG
perhaps we should hire security people to protect guardsmen?
and Sandy...
Juvenal must have thought the guards in ancient Rome faced the same problem when he asked:
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
.

because they are guards for chrissakes

AOG you are at an age to know that - their guns go 'pop!' and every now and then they go out to foreign climes and kill people (Falkands springs to mind)

so your idea is to have guards tp guard the guards.... didnt someone say that in Latin 2000 y ago ?

It is poss to have guards whose standing order are - "under attack lock the doors and do nothing else"

and THAT is why you hear diddly squat about the British Transport Police during the Tube and Tavistock Sq bombings - the ed of the BMJ rushed out and put up drips - the A+E of Gt Ormond St, took adult casualties and the BTP followed orders, locked the doors and did diddly squat .....
that's an intriguing link, Mushroom - so did they do it? It looks as if they weren't moved out of harm's way in Windsor after all?
I see why one asks, but I guess because one does not wish to let an act of insanity overturn what is considered normal procedure. This guards was armed. Keeping the public away won't prevent attacks when off duty anyway
Why would the Falkands springs to mind, PP?
I suppose it was a recent time when armed Brits has to go sort out a situation by killing folk. Although different destroying the foreign forces sent by the scum trying it on, and pointing a rifle at a stupid tourist.

They already do read mushroom's link.

/// didnt someone say that in Latin 2000 y ago ? ///

Never mind the Latin, try typing in English then some of us will be able to understand you most of the time.
Nowhere on here have I seen AOG suggesting that the guards had guards. That comment was made by jno.

And how do you suggest they sort out such aggressive actions?

And don't forget many of our own troops are also killed, or are you only concerned about our enemies?

Thank you for that Bathsheba, but as always there are some on here that won't let truth stand in their way, when they want to have a dig.
Ain't it great when pampered yoof gets a metaphorical kick in the nads?
Top man that soldier. :-)
For once AOG, I agree with you.

This silly little tw6t of a tourist could easily have been a assassin. I feel sorry for these Guards. My brother did the same duties as this 30 years ago, and a similar thing happened to him. I know that the Guards are supposed to show restraint at all times but I wouldn't have blamed him one little bit if he had given this tw6t a little tap on the head with his rifle butt.

Or indeed, as Dougie has suggested, a tap a little lower down !
Douglas didn't suggerst that.
What is a diddly squat, please?
