It is nothing new for politicians or Royal to rush to the scene of an incident and milk the situation. George Bush was criticised for not rushing to Oklahoma.

This man failed to get elected last month, as did thousands of others, so he is hardly a leading politician. Not sure why using a selfie stick makes his actions disrespectful. If it had been a Fleet Street photographer, taking the shot, would that have made it legitimate?

Seems like a none story. Or at least making a mountain out of a molehill.

It`s not so much the taking of the photo (although that is macabre enough) it`s the fact that people want their photo taken at the scene which is disrespectful. I saw the same thing in the 911 museum the other day - presumably it`ll be headed "Here`s one of me in front of the mangled steel girder just where the plane hit and which resulted in the deaths of thousands of people" It trivialises the situation.

Unfortunately, in this day of social media and people having an internet profile to feed, this is how life events are recorded. People find out on social media about grandchildren being born on facebook first. It does appear crass and not a good way to behave, but that is how many people operate today.
