A Minutes Silence Where Was The Respect?
109 Answers
I watched and observed the minutes silence while watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned down I was quite frankly taken a back with the number of people both in Tunisia and in the UK taking selfies on their phones during the 1 minute silence is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute??

I saw someone (on the footage taken in Sousse) who was taking a photo during the silence. Is that the person you are referring to? It wasn`t possible to see if he was taking a picture or a selfie. Shame he couldn`t have put the camera down for a minute and just observed the silence. I guess he`ll be including the photo in his holiday shots!

It's not about all over the world though. We can't grieve the pointless loss of everyone across the globe. These were Britons though. 30 of them. They have family, friends, work colleagues, acquaintances....that could be many 100's of people mourning them. All for what? It's something that is a serious threat to the rest of us going about our daily business....
There may not have been a national silence for Lee Rigby but I know for a fact that many military units did hold a 2 minute silence for him. He will be remembered for a long time. I don't know the name of any of those killed on the beach but they were British holidaymakers and it was just as tragic. Arguing about whether they deserved a silence or not is crass. Either you observed it or you didn't.
I don't think it can be compared to Lee Rigby. As horrific as his murder was he was military, part of an army that invaded Muslim countries, seen as the enemy for his profession. As sickening as it was, and I hope his killers suffer day in day out for what they did, these were holiday makers lounging in the sun on holiday...30 of them.
We might as well say sod em.Why did they get flown back in an RAF Hercules and be given military pall bearers at the tax payers expense. AFTER ALL THEY WERE NOT MILITARY WHO DIED IN BATTLE. I cannot believe what i read from so called fellow Brits. For goodness sake go on Facebook or Twitter and tell all what you will be having for breakfast tomorrow. I have seen death many times in my lifetime and I cannot see why people are worried about being respectful for one minute. It is beside the point that my family knew Janet and John Stocker.Surely their grieving loved ones can be shown that the rest of us care as well.
