The reason that Osborne is raising this tax, is to spend it on roads, which is laudable. He says that the VED will be ring-fenced but we have heard that before. It will only be a matter of time before he, or a future Chancellor, raids this pot, in order to pay for a tax reduction.

Retrocop....I am not sure what I will be doing in 2 years time, but its been my practise to change every 3 years, as I do quite a lot of mileage every year, using my car for work.
To be frank, the extra VED won't brake me, but I am not happy with the government using us drivers as a milch cow. When a previous government changed over to an emissions-based tax, a lot of people changed to driving cars that had less or no VED. But all that is now being undone by these present plans.

So what is new.The driver has always been a milch cow whatever party rules.
Soon as I bought my first diesel car many years ago when the price of diesel was nothing they suddenly introduced Unleaded petrol with a sweetener of cost reduction. They put the price of diesel up at the same time and screwed those who had old and cherished vehicles that wouldn't run on unleaded.
It is always been the perpetual joys of motoring.

Well OK then. I bought my diesel years ago( 1970),as previously explained, and still drive a diesel although the price of diesel has increased above petrol. That is my choice and I am not moaning about it. There is always a choice. We might all have to get rid of our diesels if some ABers get their way.
