We have now reached the stage where a high percentage of the UK population gets some sort of benefit or other, be it child benefit, pension, working tax credit, child tax credit, housing benefit etc.
But as a country we are massively in debt, have an aging population, and we cant keep giving money away the way we do.
There is a woman on the front of my local paper this morning. Single mother with 8 kids complaining she wont be able to live on £20,000 a year benefits.
But it has to stop sometime, or we will finish up like Greece.
Trouble is some socialists and those in the socialist workers party and SNP feel that as a country we should just keep giving more and more money away to more and more people until we are broke.
But we need to EARN the money first, so need to promote private business who sell things and pay taxes.
Without those businesses we will soon go broke, but all we ever hear from the left wing is we need to keep paying out more and more benefits.
But many people in this country are sick to death of paying their taxes and seen it given away in benefits which is why they voted Tory in the last election.
But of course the "left" are bad losers who choose to have strikes on the day of the budget and wreck thousands of peoples lives, just because they lost the election.
They wont be happy till we are as broke as Greece.

Retrocop...I am not sure what strike Bazile is referring to, although I suspect he means the current Tube strike ( ? )
Union members vote for strike action by a secret ballot, rather like you voted in May. Previous Tory governments saw that this change in strike ballots happened and I fully concur with that legislation. So its all above board.

Unless the 13 million are particularly thick they'll know that Brown only introduced tax credits to make more people reliant on and beholden to the state. Why would any person want to work all week and then go cap in hand to the state to be able to live.
What I can't figure out is why some people on the left seem so happy to boost the profits of global corporations who pay minimal wages.

// Well fools like mikey can keep on paying to support these people //
As Svejk points out, they're actually paying to supplement the profits of the companies that pay low wages, which is even more foolish for a lefty.
Raising the minmum wage puts the responsibility for paying salaries back with the employer rather than the taxpayer.
