So sad. Her family must be devastated. I was hoping she would pull through.

Me too BB....very sad for both families.
How very sad, if only they had been found after it was reported.

There was the story a few years ago where the police were called to a car that had crashed in similar circumstances to this one. They missed the body because they didn't get out of their pilice car because it was raining, and the body was not found for several days.

Apologies, in the story above it was not rain, they failed to look because it was a bit cold out.
The "ghostly" car crash that you are thinking about was off the A3 in Burpham, Surrey. I remember it being reported at the time
It will be interesting to see what the coroner puts as cause of death in this instance. In the case in my link above where the driver survived the crash and dragged himself out, the coroner was unable to blame his death on the police missing him and him lying in the cold for 4 days.

As this young woman survived and then died in hospital, will the delay be a contributing factor to her death, or will the coroner blame the initial crash?
point of order mr chairman - there are no coroners in scotland. sudden deaths are reported to the Procurator Fiscal and dealt with by fatal accident inquiries usually conducted by the local sheriff.

Thanks mush.

Is a death 7 days after a crash 'sudden'?
It may be that she would have died even had the car been located on the Sunday. We will have to wait until either the coroner/FAI results to see what the actual cause of death is.

I hope that Police Scotland continue to be honest about the failings in their system and that any improvements to that system are made.

Meanwhile Police Scotland are all out at ''T in the Park'' trying to keep order. One sudden death so far and lots of moans about transportation.

I don't understand how someone can report an accident and not wait for the emergency services. If the car had gone off the road, they would need to know where and be flagged down. And call again if there's no response as in this case. Very strange.
Tara, the driver could have been over the drink/drug drive limit; driving a stolen car; uninsured; outside a curfew/wanted on warrant; have screaming kids in the back of the car; desperately need the loo/medication; need to be somewhere else.....the possibilities are endless.

Not everyone carries a mobile phone.
