On AnswerBank we hear very much of some prisoners dying while being arrested or in police custody, so why haven't we heard anything of this?

I think one reason might be that we expect better of our police.
Kenya is a far away country, of which we know little I suppose AOG.

There seems to evidence that this chap was a drug user, but what was the outcome of the autopsy, ie, the cause of death ?
The case has not concluded.

We probably haven't heard anything because the incident was mot captured on CCTV or phone.

The death of Ian Tomlinson was put down as a straight forward heart attack, and was not recorded by any police officer in their notes. Then a day later the film of him being attacked emerged on YouTube and the cover up unravelled.

I thought news was meant to travel fast?
I suspect we'd have heard a lot less if he'd been the son of a haberdasher, Canary. Likewise of the death of the son of Sir David Frost, a matter on the front page of the Guardian's website, for heaven's sake.

I think three police mentioned it to superiors and were instructed NOT to record it. I think they were aware of the hitters reputation for violence .....

is a depressing read
yeah we here virtually nothing about teenage drunks unless they are the offspring of the prime mininster
Friends of this young man say he was interviewed by Spanish police after disembarking from his flight because of rowdiness.
He told them he'd been assaulted by the police and was found dead the next day.
It doesn't do to antagonize them.
