/// AOG...what point are you trying but failing to
make ? ///
On the contrary, I think I have succeeded admirable, judging by your response.
/// His political affiliations are completely irrelevant to this issue. He was a Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, a neutral role, as it is in the House of
Commons. ///
Strange, for the fact that had he been a member of the Tory Party or UKIP you would have been shouting it from the rooftops.

Just before I go AOG....what on earth are you on about ?
I started this thread, and I was aware that Sewel is a Labour Peer, but I have still brought to everybody's attention !
Not "shouting it from the rooftops " perhaps but I am condemning him all the same. So what is the point of your last comment ?
And I promise that when we have another case like this, I shall do the same, not matter what political party the offended is part of.

The BBC called him a tory peer so all the usual suspects queued up to 'put the boot in'. Now that it's clear he's a labour peer, despite initial denials here, 'it doesn't matter which party he comes from' is the new claim.
All this on top of the farcical labour leadership contest. Lol, you'd need a heart of stone not to laugh.

One always hears that our Politicians and our Lords should represent as much as possible the feelings of the "common man." Politicians in particular are criticised for leaving University and going straight into Politics, not experiencing life as we think that we know it....the life of the "common man."
We hear that the Lords should represent a cross section of community............ some elected, others non elected and of course, the "common man" (the Pork butcher from Dewsbury, the NHS porter from Barnsley)
So let me tell you about the "common man".......he often wears women's underwear, he often visits prostitutes, he may take hard drugs and when a Lord adheres to what many people are demanding of our Politicians, there is a mad rush to the high moral ground.
So......what do you want of our Politicians?
