No Mention Of Cilla On The Bbc News
Sad news that Cilla has passed away at such a young age.
I saw that she had died on facebook this morning but when I watched the BBC lunchtime news there was no mention of her. I have since looked up the BBC website and she isn't mentioned there either.
I'm just wondering why that should be? I know that she was mainly associated with ITV but that couldn't be the reason could it?

// Showbusiness royalty Cilla Black has died aged 72 of natural causes at her home in Spain, it was announced today.
Spanish police confirmed the death of the Liverpool-born former singer and presenter of Blind Date.
A police spokesman said: ‘I can confirm the death of British national Priscilla White, aged 72. //
That seems like official confirmation, so why the BBC didn't report for nearly 2 hours is odd.

Yikes - didn't mean to start an argument!
Thanks for the answer - so it hadn't been made official and that is why they held back on reporting it.
It must be a hard call for newsdesks to decide when to report something eg in this situation it seems that the Spanish police had confirmed her death but the BBC must have needed to wait for it to be confirmed by family or agent.
In these days of news travelling so fast via social media etc you can see how it would make the more 'ethical' or 'accurate' news sources seem a bit behind the curve. Yet it is those very same agencies that many people go to to check the truth/validity about news stories.

For those that have access to the ITV Encore channel they are showing the 3 part "Cilla" drama program at the moment over the next few days.
It is on the Sky platform but I am not sure where else.
I am not usually a fan of dramas but this was fantastic and Sheridan Smith was wonderful in it.
Funnily enough I was watching it just last night.
