During the fairly recent Tory wilderness years they experimented with IDS, Micheal Howard, and the boy, Hague. None were up to the job. I think now Labour are in a similar boat. Times change ans so will their fortunes.
I suspect the big beasts are waiting until after the next election
Perhaps The Libs might manage to claw some way back with Labour appearing so unelectable.
The LibDems in 2010 positioned themselves more to the left of Labour which is why I voted for them.
In 2015 they went more central, and became more like their coalition partner, but more caring. It failed dismally.

Not all left wing policies are unpopular. Getting us out of the EU could be a vote winner.
If Corbyn wins and decides to support exiting the EU (he has made plenty of anti-Eu statements) then it could turn a lot of voters pro-Labour. (Probably with reservations.)

Cameron's 'wait and see what I can negotiate' stance with the EU is not doing him any good - especially as people are very suspicious these days and look cynically at the wording of 'promises' and 'get-out clauses'.
Interesting some still seem to believe that the 'Business Class' would allow a Labour or Conservative or any other govt. exit the EU.
They probably still believe the UK is a functioning Democracy !!
Yes, everything is a conspiracy isn't it sevenOP
