ichkeria, unlike the troubles in Ireland, the rift between Muslim factions has nothing to do with politics.
This is beginning to sound more like Ahmed the dead terrorist - for those of you who dont know who that is see attached video

There are two versions of Islam Shia and Sunni. It goes back to the foundation of the religion 600 years ago. Each side regards itself as 'the true faith' they hate each other more than they hate Christians.
This is an example of anti Shia graffiti . Mosques are either Shia or Sunni .
Islamaphobia is too sweeping, there are literally billions of benign muslims in the world who do no harm.

A more accurate term should be Wahhabiphobia. And we should blame atrocities on Wahhabi Terrorists and Wahhabi suicide bombers.
Could I please refer you all to the post by birdie1971 1.30 wed 05 aug, in Society and Culture ---Religion and Spirituality.

It would help massively if they would all stop shouting 'allahu akhbar' at the top of their voices like things utterly demented and listen to each other.
That cacophony set up by their hysterical screaming is more like jungle animals screeching mindlessly than human communication.
// Mohammedanism// for chrissakes Jackdaw even in the seventies I was told I should use the word 'Islam' - the religion of peace ! - geddit ?

No Ag - you whould not be concerned but look at the photo

Above the door is ya Ali' madan - now sure about the last word

This shows they revere Ali as the second Caliph - one anyway and are Shia

and on the bricks somone has obligingly written - Shia kafar

kufar are unbelievers and are prescribed death

So this is the equivalent of church burning in Northern Ireland
[ and were we worried then? naaaa ]

The pinko wet Grauniad hack writing the colour pieve is 'profundly shocked' but all that means is that she hasnt read around the subject.
I see what you are saying JJ; but I think there is a difference between a concern, or even a fear, and a phobia.

Religion played a part in the NI "troubles" but is considered not to be the main issue. It was mistreatment of the Catholics that led to the British army being sent in. But the two communities tended to split along many lines. I think it is little help to identify the situation with just one.

Haven't they spent 1400 years slaughtering each other. And anyone else they came into contact with, eddie?
Jackdaw33's post at 00:18 must surely be in contention for best answer of the month award. :-)
"ichkeria, unlike the troubles in Ireland, the rift between Muslim factions has nothing to do with politics. "

Of course it has. Like I say one influences the other. At some point the religious issues get blurred by the politics, as in Ireland, but sooner or later it becomes a question of power (if it was ever really anything else)
One faction gains primacy over the other and it becomes a political struggle as well as or instead of a religious one
Yep,
Ichk is spot on.
Sunni & Shia Muslims have been fighting & slaughtering each other since time immoral ! so nothing new ? What is new is they are now starting in this country, do we really have to put up with this ? Surely there is some form of legislation that is designed to deal with this problem, if not then there should be to nip this in the bud before the norm sets in & it becomes too late to do anything.

Rest assured, the general laws about inflicting bodily harm, slaughter, arson, vandalism and affray all extend to the Muslim population as well as the rest of us. So no need for any new laws.
Can we have that in writing ?
yes 1400 years ago. I was thinking of the 600 years after the founding of Christianity.
There are more than two sects of Islam, there is also Sufis, Ahmadiyyas and others who are branches of Sunni and ***. That's the case with all the major religions.
Just as British expats move to Spain because they think it is just like the UK but with more sun then Pakistanis and and Bangladeshis think the UK is just like their home country but with more handouts. It must come as a shock to them when they move outside their self imposed ghettos and discover that women have rights and that the country is a democracy with laws protecting children.
'Rivers of Blood' springs to mind.
