What Do You Think Of The Idea Of Women Only Train Carriages?

I can see why Corbyn has proposed this, but am not sure it's the right solution.
What are your thoughts?

I don't see why we shouldn't have Women-only trains - after all we already have Virgin trains !

I was thinking that at first - but then again, I don't think it would need to be policed.
There are already 'quiet carriages' on trains where people are dissuaded from answering mobiles phones. This is policed by common consent.
And I remember the days (way before the Kings Cross fire) where the last tube car was for smokers.
That too was 'policed' by common consent.
I assume this would be the same.

Ruddy daft idea !
Can you imagine the uproar if someone suggested that we have Men-Only carriages ?
I can remember some years ago, when BR tinkered with the idea of making one carriage No Smoking, but this failed utterly, as everybody had to walk through this carriage in order to get to the Buffet Car ! So just how are the train companies supposed to deal with men walking through a Women Only carriage, in order to get to a cup of tea ?
Anyway, where is the demand for this ?
If we could coral all the drunks into one carriage, preferably the one on the end of the train, well, I might be prepared to support that !

I remember when we had steam trains which had some non corridor carriages, once in, that is where one remained until the end of one's journey.
The problem then was, if there was a lone female in the carriage a man would not get into that carriage, simply because there had been numerous cases of some females threatening their innocent fellow male passenger, that unless they handed over some cash they would pull the communication chain and report that the man had assulted them.

///////Old_Geezer - "I shall assume the intent is good but I don't think protecting one gender by barring the other, and allowing the other to get assaulted is really the answer. It sounds like an attempt to look as if one is doing something and merely pushing a problem around."
