If I actually owned the house I lived in, and it had some spare beds/ room, then I might consider the question more seriously. As it is, in a rented flat that already has as many people as it can reasonably be expected to take it hardly matters whether I would want to take in a refugee or not as I am in no position to.
Anyway, even if only 10% of people in the North West would take a migrant/ refugee into their homes, that could still amount to welcome rooms for maybe somewhere in the region of 50,000-100,000 migrants housed in the North-West alone (probably a too optimistic figure but it's in the ballpark for potential space, at least).

I'm slightly surprised by baz's scoffing, in a way, because I would have thought this is precisely the sort point he would have been making recently, ie "I'd like to see you take an immigrant into your home" = "there's no point preaching about how we've got to take in migrants unless you are prepared to yourself".
So, here we see a survey saying that not that many people actually want to take migrants in in the first place, to which I added that, in effect, quite a few of those who said they would take in migrants probably won't. So far, so pretty much uncontroversial I'd have thought. Ah, well.

askyourgran has a very good point. All these young men should be fighting for their country, not running away . Perhaps their accommodation should be in barracks? If every male between 18 and 30 were conscripted and given basic training they could then be a fairly formidable force against ISIL. After all, our males did it.
