The Picture Comment

I was listening to an interview with Charlotte Proudman , on the radio earlier .

In it she stated that she knew that if she 'kicked up a fuss ' about it , there would be 'some backlash' against her .
In particular , she fears for her career prospects now as a lawyer .
She intimated that she knew beforehand that it is likely that she will not get the briefs that she would otherwise get in the future

I posed the question -

Was it really worth jepordising her career prospects , in response to what Alexander Carter-Silk said - i.e. '' that is a stunning picture '' ?

Of course if he had made actual sexual comments or approaches , overtly or secretively - then there would be no question that it would be right to challenge him

Exactly it's about right time and place really- again reiterating she has handled it badly.

I was a little surprised to find he commented on his own Daughter as 'Yeee Gds,she is hot! ,not I hasten to add on LinkedIn.

I am on LinkedIn and I don't think it's quite as professional as it intended or used to be. Several of my network now post very similar posts and pictures to a FB timeline - I find it irritating and an incorrect use of the site. Having said that I haven't uploaded a profile pic yet because I can't find one that does me justice :-))

So what should she have done to ensure that her photo wasn't commented on then Prudie? Put one up with no make-up and bed hair? Your comments just smacks of the whole "hot but she knows it" attitude. It's jealousy.

Context is everything. It wasn't Facebook, it was a business networking forum and therefore about as appropriate as wolf whistling at a girl in the street.

And a 50 odd year old man commenting to a woman half his age IS creepy.

I am coming to this story rather late but I have now read the article in today's Guardian.

All the chap said was that she looked stunning in a photo ! Exactly what is he supposed to have done wrong ? There is nothing remotely sexual about what he said...this woman is barking mad !

I think Mikey the point is that it is an odd comment on an introductory message on a business site.

However Prudie has a point maybe it is far less professional than it was.

I am mamya :-) And jeez meglet I can assure you I have nothing to be jealous about. There is another picture of her looking far more 'professional' in her barrister gear, that's what she should have used if she wanted less invitation of compliments. I think she should have used the picture she did and not take umbrage when someone tells her she looks good.

She was the one who made contact with him, I just wonder how many 'selfies' she took before deciding on that particular photo, plus, have you seen the comments that she has made to younger men, on the profile of a postgraduate student at Cambridge, where Miss Proudman is on sabbatical from her chambers to study for a doctorate in Law and Sociology, specialising in legal methods of combating FGM, she wrote: "Hot stuff!". Under an image of a long-haired male friend, she wrote: "oooo lalala!"
She also told female friends they looked "sexy" and "stunning", commenting on photos of friends: "Oh ladies, wowwweeeeee!!!!!!", "wow! stunning!!!!" and "Sexy lady!"
So then you silly woman, sort yourself out and get your own act in order before slagging others off!!
