Turkey & most EU countries heavily fine anyone allowing transportation of Syrians. Rail & bus travel is allocated by receipt of correct papers, that they queue days for. They cannot enter b&b/hotels as owners would be fined.

I'm struggling to find a dentist at the moment, there was a time when you could move house and register in your new town, not any more. I wonder how many of those rally fanatics are willing to take a couple of refugee families for as long as it takes, paying for their upkeep etc. and then blame the government for not having money to pay for their hospital facilities, housing for their own families etc. Germany have learned their lesson already.
Just for info - passing through Luxembourg for a coupla days - big statement in the paper from the chief honcho and the director of Medecin san frontieres saying these people need more help not less.
Luxembourg is very capitalism-driven society and yet they have made ready 3-4 sites to receive migrants
A point made here - the 'native' population is ageing and declining. If a workforce is desired for the future, it must come from outside.
On a personal level - if many of these incomers are highly qualified, then badabing, problem solved.

To those who ask this question, as you are usually the same people defending the realm and all her inhabitants, how many of our own needy, poor and homeless people have you taken in lately, and how much did their education cost you?

I've paid income tax all my life, latterly on a high level, and shudder to think how much in total this represents. This has been used by government to do all sorts of things including provide totally free state education, healthcare and social services - this is the state equivalent to 'taking in poor and homeless people'.
If one were to personalize all functions in Svejk's manner, then we should also be berating each other for not adopting extra children, not looking after additional elderly people and not sweeping streets and disposing of refuse.
