That's ok, they know what you're like ;-)

Compassion isn't exclusive to left wing politics it just sometimes seems so. Neither is being compassionate mutually exclusive with weighing up a situation and finding the best balance.

I have compassion both for those born into less than ideal circumstances and for nations trying to run their part of the world well who don't need influx of others ruining what they achieve.
Now I'll go read further than the headline : -)
Educated at Eton and son of a former Conservative MP. I'm not sure the lefties will be clamouring to claim him as one of their own.

Article goes on a bit doesn't it. Maybe it just seems like it on a mobile screen.

Depends on what one means by "equal". Sure we have an equal responsibility to all humankind, but it can not be top priority, overwriting all else. Ideals/moral responsibilities can conflict and judgement calls made as to which takes priority in a particular circumstance. One needs a stable good base for one's own nation in order to be capable of helping those outside.one's own nation need not be perfect and without issues before getting involved with helping others, but it should not be caused problems in an effort to be the good guy. One also needs foresight and a sense of balance.

Just your typical leftwinger then.
