Fancy picking a vegan to be the Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs?
She says meat eaters should be 'TREATED LIKE SMOKERS'?
Where will it end if they ever get in power, no munching on sausage rolls outside Greggs, or eating a tasty steak in pubs?

Its a good idea. people should be encouraged to add a meat free protein to their diet, not become veggie or vegan, but to maybe replace beef mince with veggie mince when making a chili or lasagna, and having a mat free day every week. IF humanity carries on using animal based protein as it is, there will not be enough to feed everyone by 2050 (according to a programme I was watching yesterday on TV)
vegetarians can be such fascists though. if a vegetarian friend comes round to dinner, he expects a vegetarian dish to be placed in front of him. but if i go to the vegetarian friend's for dinner, i'll be waiting a very long time indeed for him to present me with a dish with animal protein in it, even though he knows i'm not a vegetarian.
1ozzy I'm not vegetarian ,can skin and joint a rabbit and bone out a leg of lamb to stuff it no probs. I just happen to like some dishes that are totally meat free. Tonight we will have veggie cottage pie - fry onions carrots and celery, add lentils that have been cooked in vegetable stock, fresh herbs of choice and thicken with tomato puree. Put in heat proof dish and top with creamy mashed potato or a mix of sweet and normal potato, top with cheese and pop in the oven for 15 mins. serve with mung beans (joke)
Well, it will certainly put a stop to passive eating, such as in the RAF when a duty officer attended the airmen's mess and asked if there were any complaints. One airman said the meat was tough, the officer took a piece and chewed it. "That's not too bad "said the officer, "true" replied the airman "I've been chewing that piece for five minutes".

According to this report it's not meat that is the problem.
*** It is time to stop the Malthusian fear-mongering. We can feed the world in 2050 if we change course and if we stop focusing only on producing more agricultural commodities. That has never solved the hunger problem. Instead, let’s increase the availability of land and food by reducing biofuel production, get more of the food we grow to the dinner table by reducing food waste, and invest in the most important food producers in the world: small-scale and family farmers. ***
