No, I know the reasoning, but I meant it was sad that there's such a necessity. You'd think they'd all realise that it was religion that put them there in the first instance and strive to overcome cultural differences between themselves within the camps.

No, BOO. And so it will ever be. Many eligions cannot get on with people of other faiths and there is one particular religion whose followers cannot get on with different factions within its own particular creed.

This will never alter because to adress such a problem those involved have to embrace some logic. And none of them do.

The West has, in general, absorbed too much Disneyfication of difference and final, tearful unification, all based on common understanding and love! What did Germany expect? Their egalitarian society ideals do not apply to this lot.

Best solution? Accept all Christian migrants and send the rest back? Ask all to swear on whatever they hold dear to uphold Western values?

I rather feel that all able-bodied young men in possession of a Syrian passport and papers should be formed into units, given 6 weeks basic training and sent back to Syria to fight ISIL. (Should put a stop to the trade in false passports too!)

There seems to be a general misconception that the Syrian war is Assad v IS. Of course it isn't. There are lots of different groups involved. It's at least a three-way fight.
So even if we were to spend millions of pounds of tax payers money to train people against their will as conscripts, sending them back to Syria, they might join the non-IS jihadists, the non-Jihadists, the government or IS.

Are people not allowed to protest against the wrong decisions made by those those who they put in power, without being labelled 'right-wing xenophobic groups' ?

Seems like they chose not to use the well thumbed race card this time, but chose to use the next one in the pack, the xenophobic card.

This is not about the 'fear of foreigners' but about peoples fear that their very culture, traditions and infrastructure is being eroded by the huge influx of peoples, who bring with them an entirely different way of living, to that accustomed by the indigenous peoples.

He may have been right, but his way of dealing with the problem was what made him the monster he became.

It appears that you are not bothered about seeing the standard of living that has been achieved in this country over many long years simply diminished, entirely due to a huge influx of cultures, that have never know such standards?

But being serious for a moment, fighting for the Syrian army does not necessarily help defeat the IS folk.
Because the Syrian army are fighting other opponents, and in doing so are indirectly therefore actually helping IS. The whole thing's a mess, with no easy answers.

The riot at Calden near Kassel came on the the same day Germany's biggest police union called for a new 'apartheid' system to be enforced in refugee homes – the separation of people according to religion – after a number of flare ups in recent weeks.

If that is what it takes then so be it, even if that means a dictator ruling Syria, at least it would make Syria more stable than it is now, just as Iraq and Libya would be if we hadn't set out to remove their dictators.

I think there were half a million Jews living in Germany in 1933, Sandy. Do you know what percentage of the German population that was? Do you know when this "huge influx" of Jews into Germany (bringing with them their "entirely different way of life") begin? Was it before 1900? Maybe between 1900 and 1910? Or perhaps (yes, surely this is right) AFTER 1920?
Can you think of any more close parallels between Hitler's Germany and Merkel's?

I agree with you about Iraq AOG but in Libya and Syria, if you remember, the dictators there faced peaceful protest and/or armed insurgence from within.
