divebuddy - sorry, I'm confused as to which laws have been ignored. This from the link provided in the OP -
"Is KFC's halal chicken stunned before slaughter?
Yes, due to our strict animal welfare standards, we insist that all our poultry is stunned before slaughter. Our halal chicken has been accredited by the Halal Food Authority, one of the most widely recognised bodies in the UK and overseas. It allows the use of a technique called 'stun-to-stun' - a pain free process that makes the animal insensible to pain and suffering. A verse is also recited from the Qu'ran at the point of slaughter by an appropriate person and the poultry will not come into contact with non-halal meat at any point in the supply chain.
The HFA accreditation which is clearly signposted in the participating restaurants allows us to offer halal accredited meat whilst remaining committed to the same animal welfare standards as before, which meet or exceed all relevant UK and EU legislation."
All I know is I'd eat it however it's prepared, unfortunately it's too far to schlep to a store.

/// Eddie you are incorrect in your description of Halal meat. There is more to it than playing prayers in the background -I suggest you google it. ///

Retrochic I have Googled it. A lot of people get confused between , Jewish slaughter and Halal slaughter.
Jewish slaughter is a lot more complicated. Only a Jewish man (women are banned from anything to do with it as they are considered to contaminate the meat) who is registered as a qualified Jewish slaughter man working in a dedicated Kosher slaughterhouse can do the slaughtering.
Anyone ( do not even need to be Muslim)in any slaughter house can be a Halal slaughterman (or woman)
The big difference is that Kosher meat is only intended to be sold to Jews
( though anyone can buy it if they want to) and does not often get talked about. It is a lot more expensive as well !

// Jews don't go around demanding that all their requirements are met all the time. They just get on with life and . erm, integrate more. //
KFC have made a commercial decision. The only pressure they have given in to, is the pressure to make more money by attracting more people into their eating establishments.

^^ I have been to a pig slaughterhouse, it is worse than you can imagine!
Anyone who thinks there is time to stun animals when you have to kill 800 or more a day is living in a dream world. You could hear the squealing from 1/2 a mile away! They ALWAYS got a tip off when an inspection from environmental health was due! and started the stunning.
