Post-natal Depression must have played a large part. Near me (in France) lived a lady who, after her first child was born, walked out one evening in front of the TGV. Whole village was in shock. Poor family :(

Family friends' son was one of the kid protection-police involved with that case in Torquay threw herself, with her elder child on her, leaving her toddler drowned at home.

As they walked off Lowman Tor, near Bovey Tracey, he saw an ice-cream van in one of the parks, his comment to colleagues, "Don't know about you guys, but I could murder an ice-cream" - just the tension of what they had been handling coming out and akin to forensic/autopsy humour.....

Truly awful. Can't imagine what on earth is going through the minds of people who kill babies like this.

DTC - one or two schools I worked in compared themselves to a M.A.S.H. unit and the humour was the same.

I can understand that, jourdain.....M.A.S.H is the best comedy to come out of the USA, by far - because it played that line of humour in desperation, relief from the ongoing situation and then the sadness of tragedy....the death of Colonel Blake on his repatriation being one example, so brilliantly replaced by the stiff-lipped but compassionate, Colonel Blake.

Brilliant writers that they had.....we could do with some more comedy writing like that, based in reality and not imaginary surrealism.
