We heard earlier of the woman on the bus racist outburst, and now just to level things up a little, here's a man on a bus also being racist.

I use London Transport quite a lot. I have never seen anything more troublesome than a few school kids playing up on the bus. One needs to get this into perspective. How many people live in London 9m?

The more refugees we have arriving in the UK, the more people will be taking exception to them, even if at times they do pick on the 'wrong' (as in long term resident) ones. How long will it be before we have groups of people taking exception, not just the odd one, and the refugees standing against them en-masse, there lies anarchy if we are not careful.
Aye..............the world's going to Hell in a handcart.
There will always be some who are unable to display tolerance and importantly keep their vile rantings to themselves - it's horrible to witness even on film and must be frightening to those who witness it close up.

Our AB Race Relations Representative can actually regail us with his story of finding the imprint of a sovereign from a ring in his forehead for intervening in a ruccus on a LT bus. He told us years back so it must be true it has gone on for a while.

Blimey, that ^^^ goes back to Oct 2006, "Gun Crime" thread
Running the country down again as usual AOG, extrapolating single incidents ad infinitum . Anti-English.
Our buses are much more civilised
Takes some time to get on as everyone is saying, "After you."
We all change seats to accommodate wheelchairs or buggies, even help with shopping trolleys
The bus drivers nearly always greet us with a smile and are always thanked when passengers alight

I do try to pay attention. :-)
"The bus drivers nearly always greet us with a smile" Not round here they don`t.

To be fair though - it could be dependent on the time of day you travel. At the weekends, I tend to go out to places serviced by the Northern Line, because if I've had a lot to drink (which is always), I don't want the hassle of changing lines to get home.

Certain parts of the Northern Line are a nightmare - such as the stretch going out of Leicester Square, and others are fine (the stretch coming out of Old Street).

But night buses - they're a little bit like the Wild West coming out of Camden. Mostly good humoured, but sometimes things can get a little 'fraught'.
sp - I have never had the pleasure of travelling back on the night bus. I have heard about it but I am too old to do that sort of thing nowadays. Even when I was in my 20s I didn`t bother with the night bus because it took about 2 hours to get home.
Bit late - we don't have many buses, but the drivers greet us (and we them) and chat about where we are going and why - it's called normal life.
Anything else means that something has gone wrong.
Baldric - //The more refugees we have arriving in the UK, the more people will be taking exception to them, even if at times they do pick on the 'wrong' (as in long term resident) ones. //

Does that mean that recently arrived immigrants are the ‘right ones’, and it’s OK to pick on them with vile racism and physical assaults?

Or am I misreading what you are saying?

I think so.

Let's hope that people pick on the correct immigrants.

It would be awful if say, my mother were mistaken by someone as a recent immigrant and had abuse hurled at her, when there were perfectly good 'new immigrants' to attack.

Perhaps it would make sense for everyone whose skin is darker than say, David Dickinson to wear a badge which details how long they have been in the UK, so that attackers would know exactly who to target.

For anyone who needs help with the David Dickinson reference, here he is, in all him mahogany magnificence:

Wouldn't bother to reply. Provocation ,pokes, prods and prowls tonight and they wonder why these threads descend into a farce.

AH @ 2259, Yes Andy you are misreading it, stop trying give it a meaning it doesn't have

And the same applies to SP whose post I've only just seen.

Retro, I suspect the only 'fun' they get is nit-picking on here, don't wish to deprive them this early in the week.
