The police seem to know that a gang of five youths were involved, yet nothing more it would seem.

Mr aog
Just an everyday event in and around London especially and the police are losing the battle partly,it would seem, because of criticism for targeting certain gangs with stop and search. It is regarded an abuse by the police and unfair. Well the whingers will reap what they sow!!

Yes.
According to the report, nothing more it would seem.
Looking at the way the attack is reported, my guess is that they may have have conflicting witness testimonies (is *thought* to have been stabbed during an altercation with a group of *around* five youths or young men)
Perhaps the witness or witnesses didn't see enough of the attackers to provide any more details?

It is not the police who lose the 'battle', it is society which singularly fails to address the reason for the existence, and increase, in knife culture among young people in major cities.
I have banged on ad nauseum that if the government put proper resources into nursery and pre-school education, we could raise a generation of children with a sense of respect for themselves, and each other, and that generation will eventually become the teenagers who no longer look for an excuse to maim and kill each other.
Because such investment will not deliver a measureable result within the life of one government, no government will invest in it. Quick 'fixes' generate votes, and that is what government is all about - holding on to power.

This is not Crufts that we are talking about, you cannot breed or as you put it (raise) a generation of children with such attributes that you suggest, not matter how much money the government cares to plough into it.

Where does 'breeding' come into this?
I am talking about education - not physicality.
I am not interested in breeding a race of blonde blue-eyed children.
I am interested in properly educating every child in the nation about the concepts of self-respect, and respect for others.
That can be done if the investment in properly trained and equipped nursery and pre-school staff is put in place.
But it won't be, because pre-school education children don't vote - university students do, so money continues to pour into the wrong end of education.

Yes you can.
But I think the answer is more complex than increased government funding.
But aren't we sliding away from what you wanted to discuss? This stabbing?

Oh so just *around* five youths or young men then, not even if they were White, Asian or Black. not as if their skin colour really matters (as is often said) but it would narrow down the search, wouldn't you agree?

Ah...now that's what I was thinking about. Better standards of education is one of the main tenets, but there are so many other components that would need to be addressed - such as tax incentives for married people, investment in improvements to social housing, massive reductions to business rates in poorer areas...the list goes on.
This will never be done, because the costs are astronomical.
Sorry to derail AOG.

Really? and please may I quote

Where please would we get the money for all this, if not from Government funding?

Well it would help if the kids had a role model father to ensure these kids actually attended seats of education. Too many kids bought up with an absentee father who is sowing his seed all over the place.
If you read the link young kids are just bunking off school 9-12 years looking for their next chance to prove what a cool dude they are.
The way they are today parents can't keep them in the country let alone attend school.

Pretty much supports what I said above. It isn't the governments job to ensure the fathers don't bunk off from their responsibilities.
