it's true that ian fleming created Bond as a particular person with particular characteristics and traits, http://www.ianfleming.com/james-bond-2/s in the 1950s, and a character like that would be something of an anachronism if he was portrayed like that in modern films.

so is Sir Roger right that film makers should remain faithful to Fleming's description of James Bond? or is the Bond franchise now bigger than one man's vision of his character?

but as long as they get a black bond the right on brigade will be happy to have forced their wishes down everybody elses throat !
Of course Bond can't be gay or a woman !

If people want a new secret agent that is gay or female, let them go and make one up for themselves....leave Bond alone !
divebuddy...Sandi would need a few boxes to stand on first !

I wouldn't say that but with our newly enriched shores being blessed with many from other cultures and sexuality being not stifled anymore I for one would be happy to see Idris, a homosexual sumalian, asian or polish man/woman as bond

Did bond have a pet? Haha just remembered one of the evil dictators was called "Fanny Galore"

not necessarily mikey - jack reacher is portrayed in the books as tall and handsome; then look at who they got to play him in the films.......

The 'black Bond' thing came about because of the Sony leak last year. Remember that story where North Korea was blamed for hacking into Sony's systems? Well one Sony executive was musing to another about possible Bond replacements and she mentioned Idris Elba.

The papers got that, and have been running with it ever since.

It's an entirely media-orchestrated story. They've kept it going...even though there isn't a great public demand for him to play Bond. The reason they're keeping it going is so that people can click on links to the latest chapter in the 'story' and post comments. Each time the story is clicked on, in whatever paper, they can charge a fee to advertisers.

It's called 'click bait'.
By the way...the new Bond should be Jamie Dornan.

He is absolutely the right age, has the right profile, is in the right place in his career and can play suave ('50 Shades of Grey') and dangerous ('The Fall').

You heard it here first.

Jamie Dornan.
Doosh
It was Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) in Goldfinger. But it features in every Bond film. :-)

On the theme of Bond, and apropos of nothing, Heineken has been a 'brand
partner' of the James Bond franchise since Tomorrow Never Dies back in 1997.

However, their recognisable bottles didn't actually make it to the screen until 2012's Skyfall.

The Bond films have never been shy about product placement, so why the delay?

Apparently Bond producer Barbara Broccoli hates the colour green because of all the teasing her surname inspired as a kid. So she took a lot of persuading to have Heineken's green bottle show up in the movie.

...allegedly.

at a client meeting in nord-rhein-westfalen a few years ago, our hosts told us that beer was best not drunk if it came in a green bottle.
(something to do with not filtering out ultraviolet, which can react with the chemicals found in hops).
when my boss pointed out that beck's was marketed in just such a bottle, the host just replied:-

...."votch mein lips...."

isn't bond MI6?

I'm surprised Ginger(ish) was allowed tbh!
// I used to visit Deal, I often saw Charlie Hawtrey mincing along the prom there. He would have made a good lead for the Death Wish films //

You used to fantasise about him being killed? Really? That's pretty sick :-/
Gromit
I guess that was T.I.C. and meant in jest wasn't it?
i assumed he meant in the Charles Bronson role, he didn't get killed
I'm sure it was, retrocop.

Of course Sir James is right. What next? a black Ivanhoe? (also played by Roger Moore).

No problem if someone wants to create a 'Janine Bond', James's cousin, or another, long-lost cousin called something like 'Jazeb Bond', who is black. What is it with some people?!

and I have heard that Julian Clary has been seen coming out of the Mi6 offices, hand in hand with Miss Graemeh Norty-Guyforapenny. Am I wrong?
