So according to some Abers it has been confirmed that he was tortured, so let look at the evidence, and I use extracts from Mikey's BBC link.

/// Since 2007 Mr Aamer, who claims he was
tortured, ///

/// where his lawyers say he was tortured. They say he made false confessions to end his torture. ///

/// In February 2002 Mr Aamer was transferred to Guantanamo Bay, where his lawyers say he suffered further abuse. ///

So to summarise, since Mr Aamer's lawyers weren't by his side 24/7, we can only take Mr Aamers word for it.

Pretty conclusive don't you think?
AOG

See my last earlier post.
They evidence against Aamer comes from other detainees and obtained by torture. There appears to be records of who was water boarded and how many times. If Aamer was water boarded, it will be in the US's own filesand will be easy to prove.

Conservative MP David Davis during the the Parliamentary debate about Aamer

// I am not necessarily sympathetic if there is any question of guilt on the part of the people picked up. However, what strikes me about this case is that the US was offering $5,000 ransoms or rewards, and it is too easy to forget that in Afghanistan at that time, $5,000 would have been equivalent to hundreds of thousands of pounds in this country. When it was a poor village that handed him over, I will not say that I do not blame them — I do — but it could be seen as understandable. What that does, however, is to call into extreme question any suggestion of Shaker Aamer’s guilt. //
Innocent or not, I would not like this person living next to me ......... What about you Mikey4444, would you want him as a next door neighbour?

Wow dive for cover saintpeter48, I was taken to task on an extreme level for stating that I didn't want certain persons living next door to me.

Saintpeter is referring to a specific individual - not to an entire ethnicity - thereby hangs the difference.
I have no more or less "evidence" than anbody else, that hes guilty ..

but unlike you do gooder handwringers id rather not take the risk by putting other citizens that really are british and entitled to call themselves british at risk....

wrong place wrong time....yeah right

Do you have a problem taking an opposing position in a debate without being rude to the people who don't agree with you?

It's against the spirit of the AB, and it does contravene Site Rules.
baz - So, it suits you to believe that he is guilty rather than concede that he just might be an innocent caught up in world events?

There are many people who, in the name of Charity, find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time....Alan Henning, for one.

"Alan Henning"
I dont recall him being picked up as being involved in terrorism or helping a terrorist group....just saying...

///I don't recall him being picked up as being involved in terrorism or helping a terrorist group///

And neither is there any evidence that Shaker Aamer was, either....just saying...
so what was he picked up for ?...just saying !
For being where he was and being implicated in the information supplied by an informer who was being handsomely paid and subsequently shown to be completely unreliable.....

Perhaps you should copy this, and then paste it, so as to address some of your Left of Centre comrade's more ruder comments, just in the interest of equality you understand?
