And the pathetic excuse about disabled just doesn't wash, it merely heightens the hypocrisy.

He is right. NHS money should not subsidise private car use, it should be spent on patients' treatment. If hospitals want to charge for providing parking, it should at least cover costs, and preferably make a good profit.
Car parks have to be well lit and maintained. If you fall down a pothole in the middle of the path in the dark you can sue the hospital for any personal injury.
There is nothing the hospital can do to avoid liability for that.

This all costs money and I don't want my taxes paying for that.
If more people were to use public transport to get to the hospital then hopefully the service would improve. I have to go to three different hospitals regularly, one nearby and the others more than 30 miles away.

For the local one I use the bus service and for the others I drive to a convenient location and finish the journey by train for one and bus for the other.
oh dear, he filibustered to prevent an ill thought out impossible to implement fantasy law. Hardly attacking the disadvantaged.
Well he has got it wrong in my local NHS 'super hospital' as they get no revenue from the parking charges. The land is privately owned and the extortionate charges go into private hands.
casa, at least neither the NHS nor the council are paying to maintain the car park, so I don't have a problem with that.
