Why ?
I have just read that the s k u mbag ken livingstone is going to make a personal appearance at a public inquiry about plans for a memorial to n mandela in trafalgar sq.
cost of statue 400,000
cost of appeal fighting fund 100,000
this is yet another example of how he wastes londoners money
why do we need a memorial to this person ? he has done nothing for this country whatsoever
in fact why is anything in the UK named after him ?
saw a road in Kidbrooke yesterday named after him why ?

Still, where Livingstone is concerned nothing ever really suprises, me from the welcoming of hate spitting lunatic Muslim clerics to that other well known terrorist Gerry Adams (granted the latter was in the old GLC days, but a leopard etc...).
Thank god Mandela isn't a Jew! Poor old red Ken wouldn't have a clue what to do (hmmm, I could put a statue up, but then I'd have to be anti-semitic to it).
So presumably its ok to insult those with left-wing beliefs then? Yes that is a lot of money on a statue, and probably it could be better spent. But look at some of the other statues we have in london- Boedicea (burnt London to the ground) and Winston Churchill (don't get me started!) for two examples. Mandela is a figure who represents the end of apartheid and the ability of man to work towards living in harmony with each other - something which applies to any country. To insist that we should only celebrate those who have done something for "our" country, ignoring the shared membership we all have of the human race (well, most of us!) is ludicrous. Also, it should be considered that the term "terrorist" is a very subjective one. There are many individuals and organisations who use violence to further their aims perfectly legally and on a much greater scale than any terrorist organisation and are praised for this. Churchill and Boadicea being two examples. Whether someone is a terrorist or an heroic freedom fighter depends, much of the time, on whether you agree with them. Personally I object to the fact that the road I live on is named after a member of the royal family. I object to the fact that my taxes continue to maintain their lives, as I objected to my money being effectively spent to kill innocent Iraqis two years ago. I would rather my money be put towards a statue of Mandela - I'd prefer even more for it to be put towards abolishing the problems of racially motivated violence in this country. Just some thoughts from one of the "loonies".
There's simply no point in responding to something presented in this kind of language; it's just a manifesto for the United Kneejerk Congregation of Daily Mail Island; pompous over-privilliged men moaning about how how everything they hold dear is somehow being undermined and emasculated by an uneducated black lesbian living on the poverty line in an inner city towerblock...
That's all I need with these new names in green. More bloody work-shy, Taliban loving communists joining this site. I really wished they would get a life outside the offices of the local housing dept. and perhaps contribute to society before they start moning about it.
Whatever next?? I know lets make all primary school children learn the Koran so we can understand the evil terrorist scum that Mayor Ken probably loves.
And yes I would happily criticise those of a left wing disposition. We built this country on war and Empiric Status. I will not see it totally ruined by people with a 2:2 in Sociology who think they know how England should be run.
Oh I'm sorry. That was a thing called irony I was employing to demonstrate the preposterousness of the posts thus far. I shall signpost it better next time. <-- There's some now.

Waldo - are you aware what irony is? From your post I assume you don't, and therefore just for you I'll spell it out in an easy to understand way........it is a way of using words, often in a humorous way, to imply the opposite of what they normally mean.
If you want anything else explained, just let me know.
