Taking into account that he was much older than her, and groomed her from the age of 15, she was to an extent, also his victim. That being the case, I think that 2.5 years is adequate.

In issues of sexual abuse, our natural anger and outrage comes to the fore because that is a natural human emotion.

The law acts without emotion and applies the sentence that is deemed appropriate - although many of us feel that such sentences appear woefully lenient in the circumstances.

In this case, I think the law has taken into account the manipulation of an inadequate young woman at the hands of a deviant controlling older man, and that is why her sentence is at that level.

I always struggle in these situations, between the objective and considered person I try hard always to me, and the parent and grandparent that has attendant feelings and emotions.

That is why I always try to agree with the law, and be as dispassionate and unemotional is it must always be, but part of me wants to cut the pair of them into one-inch cubes with a rusty tin lid.

Difficult one. Even if one assumes she was groomed she surely must know right from wrong; and had opted to share "her man" with the victims: she was effectively purveyor of the victims. I think the only reason why she wouldn't have been given more than 20% of his sentence might be if she has mental issues which explains it. 2½ years (less with good behaviour) seems more the level of sentence for someone who didn't get actively involved but knew it was going on and didn't do anything to stop it.

That assumes a level of intelligence, maturity and empathy which are quite probably lacking in either of these two people.

She was a juvenile at the time of the offences which happened when she was 15 until she was 17. She also admitted her guilt which her boyfriend didn't.

If she was to actually serve 2 1/2 years I may agree. But she wont so it is not long enough.

Well as it has been established that she is probably a sandwich short of a picnic and other excuses then I suppose she doesn't know what real love is!!

People in her situation are ground down and have no idea what real love and affection are after a while , I agree she is also a victim.

She participated in chopping up someone who her boyfriend had murdered in cold blood. Perhaps New Judge can shed some light on the sentencing involved here.

I was driving home last night when this was discussed on PM and I had to turn the radio off when it came to the bit where they went and bought a circular saw. It would have been impossible to continue to drive at the sametime as throwing up.
