A European Armed Forces is what we need.
IS command posts are in the middle of towns and city's where 99.99% of the population are innocent civilians. To suggest 'nukeing' them is a stupid as saying we should wipe out terrorists in the UK by dropping warheads on London, Manchester and Birmingham and any other towns where a terrorist has been found to live.
Mikey
Britain has been accused by some lefty pacificists as a U.S. aircraft carrier.
USAAF 8th Bomber Group 2nd W.W.? B52s flew from the UK in the Gulf War to drop their payloads in Iraq .?
Gromit a European armed force is exactly what the EU intends.
Our co-operation with the French navy is a step along that road.

The latest UN directive allows 'All Means'. Perhaps Russia or China thinks that is an option.

Goodho What. Run by Brussels? They are, as I type, a city in Lock down. No Metro. No schools tomorrow.
Brussels who advanced the Schengen plan and are now having to invoke Emergency Law as a result. No thanks. Lets keep clear of Europe and their cunning stunts.
we're all part of the EU now, one big happy family.
Retrocop,
The cuts to the Navy had already gone too far in 1982 during the Falklands.
We had to convert the 'Atlantic Conveyor' a container ship, to land our helicopters. Cruse Ships were comendeered to act as troop carrier / hospital ship. The Falklands was our last solo successful mission. Since then, everything we have participated in was in colloration with other nations.
After the victory over the Argies, the downgrading of our naval ability continued apace.
Gromit
And SNP and Corbyn want to scrap Trident as well ??

Which of course is the very aim of the threat from within. Our 'patriotic' left wing fifth column. Collaboration. Stick to the colouring in.
Retrocop,
HMS Conquerer did not fire a Trident weapon.
We can quite easily not re-commission our Nuclear weapons and still have an effective submarine fleet.
I know what sank Belgrano. A Tigerfish torpedo. Type 8.
nuke the effers, how are they going to respond? I don't think Pakistan is going to press the button and, somehow, I don't think Notlob, Bradfordistnan and Liecestirkhan have the nuclear capability - yet...... Just let the Ruskies have a bit of a practice with a couple of small test bombs.

Layla tov...
Trident didn't stop the Argies invading our terrotory. It wasn't any deterent at all. It won't deter ISIS either.

It is a very very expensive weapon designed to fight Russia. It doesn't deter anyone else. Russia might still be a threat, but they have more Nuclear weapons than we do. So if it came to hurling weapons of mass distruction at each other, they can out bomb us.

For the cost of Trident, we could have 10 aircraft carriers.
gromit, it was torpedos up the jacksie of the Belgrano from some 'secret' nuclear sub that kept them at home, one with nuclear capability......
Question Author
Night dt an early one then.
then use it and move on to generation '2'.......having got some impression of how it performs.
Exactement, mon cher.....

And the Atlantic Conveyor, carrying Chinooks, that you mentioned earlier was sunk by a non nuclear Exocet missile.
Question Author
French missile in fact. Who are now giving vital intelligence to Russia, in exchange of a cuddly puppy dog.
