Apparently, David Cameron will make the case for war with Assad later this week. Possibly sometime later there may be a vote in the Commons on war, which may or may not sanction it.

Meanwhile the Russians have flew 141 bombing missions over Syria this weekend, and Defence Ministry say they destroyed almost 500 ISIS targets in the country.

Has the West already lost in Syria?
Russia are seriously tackling ISIS, and Assad will probably survive. The Russians will remain in Syria and the Saudi sectarian war will have been crushed.
And we in the West are spectators.

Gromit, //they haven't changed from their objective that Assad has to be beaten. //

I'm sure they haven't, but the goalposts have shifted. I don't believe war against Assad is the question that will be raised this week.

This is news to me. "America has fought five wars since 1945 and has gained its objectives in only one of them, - the Gulf War."

Exactly, but it should be.

We are being dragged into a conflict under false circumstances. Hopefully, if there is a vote next week in the Commons about joining the conflict, an amendment must be laid to established who our enemy is and who our military will be attacking.

If the public and MPs want to target ISIS, but a vote for military action means we fight Assad instead, then we will have been duped.

Blair pulled off getting us into a war under a false pretext, hopefully we won't fall for the sam con again.
Gromit, you seem to be running ahead of yourself with some sort of a conspiracy theory.
