Is there anything that this person WOULD back that might secure the security of these Isles?
And where are the usual AB suspects to sing his praises whilst his party melts down in front of his eyes? They're very conspicuous by their absence!

237SJ - "... [air strikes] will just make the UK even more of a target for terrorism that it already is." We're already a target. And quite frankly, I don't care whether or not air strikes against ISIS increase the "threat" level in this country. The moment we become become afraid to fight the terrorists for fear of future reprisals, we've lost. The aim of...

I'm actually not sure that he would support anything. I have a vision of him facing a blood-soaked Daesh warrior and saying something on the lines of 'We can resolve this. Tell me your problems with the Western World?'
He is out of my understanding, sorry. I am far from being a war-lord, but if someone threatens you - you arm and hit back, seems simple to me.

I doubt that anyone, including Mr Corbyn himself seriously expects him to be anywhere near the leadership when the next election rolls round - so there is little point in getting het up about what he thinks or feels.
I admire him for his principles, and I am in agreement with him regarding the bombing in Syria, the renewal of Trident.
But then again, I don’t have to stand up in the Commons and defend my views.
I agree with him that bombing in Syria is unlikely to achieve anything in terms of eradicating IS – what it will do is ensure that the next revenge bombing moves a lot closer than Paris or Brussels.

Well he has history on his side
the first air campaign that didnt win anything was the aerial bombing campaign in Iraq in 1919.
Guernica - thirties - london 1940
Barlin 1943-5
Tokyo 1945
The list is endless
Chilldo - do you want troops on the ground ?
I can tell you there is no appetite in civilians to send you and your relations to early deaths in the middle east
unlike Tony Blair who lied and lied and lied .....

PP,
The previous conflicts you've mentioned don't really come into play as many of the incidents and places you've mentioned involved carpet bombing. This is the 21st century, where precision targeting is the norm.
As for troops on the ground (Infantry Brigade strength), there's no need. There are already a large amount of UK and US Special Forces already in theatre who are managing admirably, they just need a bit more firepower (in the shape of British aircrew) at their disposal.
I'm frankly amazed it's taken us this long to even contemplate getting involved in the aerial side of things, it should have happened months ago.

From the link:
Mr Corbyn's decision to write to MPs before the shadow cabinet had reached agreement was criticised by a senior shadow minister, who told BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith: "There will be resignations among senior members of the shadow cabinet over this."
He said Mr Corbyn's letter had led to a breakdown of trust within the shadow cabinet, which had not been consulted before it was sent.
A British serviceman would be "insulted" by Mr Corbyn's "ridiculous party games" he said, adding: "We are becoming a complete joke."

Only weeks into his tenure and he's already lurching from one crisis to another. He's even making the Lib Dems of 12 months ago look like a credible outfit, and that's going some!
