Do American Supporters Of The Right To Bear Arms Fear Demonization When Massacres Occur?
The killings of small school children at Sandy Hook some years ago comes to mind. Or is it that the NRA has such a slick PR machine they're confident they can weather any storm?
That would be in stark contrast to the fears of followers of Islam in the US who have expressed such concerns.

This happens after every gun outrage in America, whether its their own home-grown nutters, or foreign nutters, as in this case. It doesn't seem to bother Americans over much, as the hue and cry calms down after a couple of days and then its back to normal in the gun shops, until the next time.

But I have given up wondering why there hasn't been a similar campaign in America. I'm sure something could be achieved if enough people got together and campaigned.

The right to bear arms is ingrained in the American way so they have a completely different outlook on the issue to us over here e.g. this is considered a suitable Xmas card https:/

I have American friends who seem to live their lives without being surrounded by sub machine guns, and there must be millions more like them.
Ordinary, sensible Americans need to organise and get a movement going against this ridiculous proliferation of entirely unnecessary weaponry.

because the prevailing view amongst the gun lobby in the US is that Sandy Hook would never have happened if the staff had been properly armed. thus in their view such a campaign would be mis-aimed; elimination of gun-free zones is the campaign watchword.

The truth is, everyone is at risk in America as a result of their obsession with the right to "bear arms" - anyone be they a Moslem, an "enemy of Islam", a pro-abortionsit, a pro-lifer, black, white, you name it

The problem here is there are a few people on here that just dont get that the US is not the UK.
Guns laws, such as in the UK, would simply not work nor would they be enforceable or accepted - and we all know what happen in the US when you outlaw something popular (Another Al Capone can emerge)

Maybe but do they live their lives surrounded by handguns, did you deliberately choose your words there carefully?
I agree there is no case for joe public owning automatic weapons but I dont agree you can remove the estimated 400 million guns many of which are basic handguns.

I have 5 groups of friends living in New York State, New England, the Mid West and California and none of them have any guns whatsoever to my knowledge. I have stayed with them many times over the last 40 years and all of them have the same view that most of us over have about guns.
Not everybody in America is a daft redneck, with a basement full of guns.
Its these kind of people that need to get together, and organise, just like they did in Dunblane with the Snowdrop Campaign.
