No doubt that if the decision had been to proceed without delay, you would have been posting 'reckless wicked Tory government ignores elf n safety and environmental concerns', and booking a couple of weeks off to chain yourself to the perimeter fences. All in the spirit of Greenham Common of course.
There was never going to be a decision to "proceed without delay".
It was either can it or kick it into the long grass until Cameron can say it was nothing to do with him. Or they manage to satisfy the environmental requirements. Which may be sometime around 2030 :-)
It was interesting to see, on the Channel 4 News, the near fight in the pub breaking out between pro and anti speakers, with the nice Moslem lady in the headscarf trying to mediate, in an interesting role reversal ... (!)
My comment was meant to be apolitical - the decision for expansion was made years before the present Government (did you spot the word "again" in my post?).
Please do not attack me by attributing imaginary views to me.
//Indecisive Government//
There is only one Government. If you meant to include previous administrations, I am sure you would have said so in your OP.
jno Canary says she meant the Labour shambles as well. Do we both believe that?
//My comment was meant to be apolitical//
Now really. I think she doth protest too much.
There's no way this is going to be solved before Zac Goldsmith either is or is not the new Conservative Mayor of London in July. He's threatened to resign as an MP if the Heathrow runway goes ahead, necessitating a by-election. With his narrow majority, 'No-ifs-no-buts Dave' daren't risk that. Remember 2010 and his motto, "No ifs no buts, no runway"? A bit like his promise that immigration would be reduced to below 100,000 annually, also "No ifs no buts" and just look where that is now!
Togo, the headline in the OP's link-material above reads, 'Heathrow Airport Runway', so it was obviously silly of me to imagine this thread was about a runway.
The name's QuizmONster, by the way.
Apologies quizmonster. If you read the previous posts it is pretty obvious why the post was made. The link above does begin to address the question of the need for an airport development or otherwise.
Togo, I have to tell you that I myself had nothing whatsoever to do with the removal of your response between 08.28 and 08.46. I have not, in over 13 years here, ever requested any such thing.
