I am not sure why this man is being paid such a huge amount of money.

I know he is the Speaker in the HOC, but what else does he do to justify his enormous wages ?

If you get your hands on a Government official visit programme or indeed a State visit programme for visiting heads or ministers of foreign countries you will more often than not see that after plenary talks the principle will have tea with the Speaker. Very busy man. Always has to have the kettle on!!!.
Course he has a sort of high maintenance filly don't ya know. Labour supporter I believe. Champagne for anyone??

Never mind the Speaker of the HOC, what about the after dinner speakers who have full time jobs and as a perk are able to pick up thousands of pounds of an evening. There are many working for the BBC.

I totally agree, Ichkeria, and have frequently said here on AB that John Bercow is worth his weight in gold, if only for the fact that he is a persistent thorn in the side of the Tories. My regard for him only increased after the pathetic, surreptitious - and happily unsuccessful - attempt to undermine him by Cameron and Hague a few months ago.
