Viewed in Firefox, with that-which-shall-not-be-named-here as an add-on, I don't see any blue banners.

If you have ABP, you can do the following:
Click the ABP icon
Choose Bloock an element
Wait for the ABP menu to disappear
Mouse over the right-hand banner until you have a discoloured semi-transparent strip from top to bottom of the page. Click.

Repeat for the left hand banner.

You'll be left with a blue stripe down each side, but no ads.
