Just on the news he passed away aged 69, I think I first saw him in Die Hard and thought he was a German actor.

"Keef is still going."

I forgot to comment. Keef Richards is actually dead. He died in about 1978 (nobody knows for sure exactly when). The Keef you see on TV is indeeed his body but has been preserved by massive daily injections of formaldehyde and embalming fluid. Movements are carried out by sophisticated robotics and his voice is synthesised by a similar device to that used by Professor Stephen Hawking.

Close observers will have noted a marked deterioration in Keef's appearance in recent years. Despite increasing the daily doses of the vital fluids time has now taken its toll.
New Judge, watch Sense and Sensibility or Truly Madly Deeply if you have the chance. You could also try Prince of Thieves, though the bits without Rickman are fairly dire. He was a proper English actor, with a superb voice.
A marvellous actor, a sad loss indeed.

RIP Alan.
RIP Alan, I loved him.

Must admit I did not recognise who he was until I saw his photograph. R.I.P. though.
In Prince of Thieves, how did Robin Hood manage to land in Dover, visit aysgarth falls and end up at Hadrian's wall in the same day? AR was very good in that film. RIP.
Another shocker. R.I.P Alan Rickman.
@ Islay...me too x
“New Judge...as soon as you see a photo of him you will know him.”

Well I’ve just looked him up, Bathsheba, and I can confirm that not only have I never heard of him but I could not identify him either. I’ve neither heard nor ever seen him.

Thanks for the Filmography, retro. This confirms my point above. Of the productions you listed I have only ever heard of the following:

1982 Smiley's People Mr. Brownlow Episode No. 1.2

(only because I watched one episode of “Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy before abandoning it)

1994 Sense and Sensibility Colonel Brandon
1995 Sense and Sensibility Colonel Brandon

(only because I know who wrote the book)

1996 Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny Grigori Rasputin

(only because I know of the Mad Monk and I like the song by Boney M)

2005 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Marvin the Paranoid Android (voic)e)

(because I’ve read the book and saw the 1980s TV series)

And all the “Harry Potter” stuff (because I’ve got shares in Bloomsbury publishing)

I've never seen any of these productions and most of the stuff listed I couldn't say whether it was a film, a book or a recipe.

It seems from what's been said he must have done some stuff that people liked, though.
Loved him in Sense and Sensibility and Love Actually to name but two. RIP Alan you will be sadly missed by many.
@New Judge,......what about when David Bowie's sad passing was announced?
Did you know him?
I knew of him (I know of most artists in the music world from that era). I didn't particularly like anything he did (apart, perhaps, the "Ground control to Major Tom" thingy). Never really seemed to know whether he wanted a shave or a haircut (the phrase is not really "shave" but it begins with "sh" and it probably won't pass the censors). Seemed a decent enough cove, though.

But I'm afraid Mr Rickman has genuinely got me stumped.
I got him mixed up with Rick Wakeman..........the names sound the same.....
Severus Expirito

RIP
With a spoon cousin? What a loss.
Seems unfair that he didn't have a gong, when the likes of Barbara Windsor got one.

Perhaps he turned one down.
Excellent in two of my favourites, Galaxy Quest and Dogma. Tremendous shock when it was just announced. Brilliant actor! He will be missed hugely.
"See you managed to get your shirt off"...

I am surprised you didn't watch Michael Collins. At least it was based on history and not fable and myth. He was good as De Valera.
@ Prudie....I know what you mean by "ugly sexy" but I don't put him in that category, that's for actors like Ken Stott x x
