A quick survey of my street shows over half the doors are red, I know for a fact that not one of them has an asylum seeker behind it. Red is simply the most common colour for a front door.

OMG. words fail me completely.
Reds in the Beds...... Unbelievable though and so crass
good grief !! kristallnacht all over again !
I suppose repainting doors is better than having an efficient and fit for purpose asylum process that works and isn't open to abuse by all.
Getting people assessed, settled or out should be the priority.

I'll bet somebody's working 'inCREDibly hard' on this right now.
'Is Middlesbrough the UK's Germany'

That's an easy one

Did green as a front door colour ever recover after the slump it went through following the issue of the song, Green door what's the secret you're keeping?

I would guesstimate there are 5 million red doors in the UK.
Apparently, there's to be an enquiry into these red doors.
Maybe not so much the 'red' as the big white 'x' in the middle that gives it away
The Latin teacher at No 10 was not amused ...
There used to be a pub near the docks here had a red lamp outside its front door. But that's another story.
you could decorate them with a pretty yellow star of David in the middle.
All the houses are owned by a social housing firm, so maintenance and redevelopment are all done to the same spec. There is nothing sinister in the properties being the same and identfiable. I can spot the social housing on my street because they all have the same white doors.
There is nothing sinister about it but it is pretty stupid. And the contractors have denied in the past that most of their properties do have red doors. So they are either sensitive to the issues and have lied about it or they are simply out of touch with reality
Asylum seekers get £36 a week. Should not profiteers like Stuart Monk be expected to pay at least some of that rather than the government? Via G4S/SERCO etc of course
Heres the answer.

Remind me what the question was again, Fawlty?
So we can now identify asylum seekers houses by the smell of fresh paint..unintended consequences or what?
easier to find in the dark?
How long will it be before we see a moan posted here,'They don't paint my bloomin' door! These foreigners are treated better than our own. The money could better be used funding the NHS'.
I agree with Gromit. If it is the same company they'd buy the same materials in bulk for cost benefits.

Whilst I can see one doesn't want to encourage vigilantes, authorities seem positively keen on giving out information for identifying individuals to the public for other issues, and claim there's nothing wrong as it isn't going to cause an issue. A bit of consistency about these things would be nice.
