Mr Maiziere and his Chancellor do not appear to be singing from the same hymn sheet. Both pulling in different directions.
The German people must be losing complete faith in their Govt. One could almost image a radical party seizing the opportunity to swing with the tide of public opinion......................
Germany would do themselves and the rest of Europe a favour if they pulled their advisory staff out of Afghanistan and secured their own border with them. That stems the swarming tide more efficiently.Obviously holding the moral high ground has become untenable now.

I suppose it was worth trying. Perhaps every outside power said the same something might happen - but I doubt it. Now about helping out in Syria....
