/// 'I have read letters from yourself, your father and others.

'The combination of these documents paint a picture of a young man who is decent, law-abiding and sensitive.

'I accept your remorse is not based on the predicament you are in here today, but it's because of a genuine and deep-seated sadness for what happened.

'You appear to be genuinely very sorry for what happened.' ///

Ah yes, tell me another one.

Of course they have a right to be angry. Who said they didn't?
It's my opinion in cases like this that there is no right sentence or tariff to be paid, nothing can lessen the loss and grief of the family concerned. So in truth whatever the Judge decrees will never be right.

Truly sad on all fronts.
The thread is about 6 months in prison being too soft, I'm saying what exactly did he do wrong that he deserves fiercer punishment? By the Grace of God and all that.
How many of us have had near misses whether our own fault or not? It happens, horrible though it is, but it happens.
Yes a series of bad decisions with a tragic outcome, he will as said remember it every day and night.
He will. A girlfriend of mine knocked a young child over who ran in front of her car last year. She has been off work and on anti-depressants ever since. The child made full recovery but what good would prison have done the driver. This story is tragic for all concerned.

Judging by some of the sympathetic posts on the side of the driver, I am surprised that they are not shouting for his immediate release, since he has suffered enough.

Pathetic absolutely pathetic, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

A poster on another thread admitted that if his family was involved his views may be different, this reminds of NIMBY (not in my backyard)
AOG it was an ACCIDENT not a deliberate crime.
I agree it was an accident. But correct Me if I'm wrong a) he admitted the car was too powerful for him. b) he was speeding. c) he ignored a warning light. d) he mounted the pavement ?

I agree with what anneasquith has put, this was not an accident, it would have been an accident if he had happened to had a front tyre blow, or due to a medical condition he lost control of the car.

But he was a young inexperienced driver who was driving a car he was not accustomed to, ignored a warning light and accelerated unnecessarily after clipping a mini roundabout, thus mounting an area reserved for pedestrians.
AOG

So you think he deliberately mounted an area reserved for pedestrians?

// Pathetic absolutely pathetic, you should be ashamed of yourselves. //

uncharacteristically judgemental AOG ....

hey I liked the way you said it reminded you of NIMBY and then had to spell it out - just in case it didnt remind us

On a motorbike - yes fifty years ago I was a bike-boy - I ran down a kid on the bike. The front mudguard still had the slicers ( number plate ) on but it didnt slice her as the impact speed was so low ....

she had run - darted yes darted - between two cars - danger alley (?) - on the first day that the lollipop leddy was on her holz. ( and I got verballed by the police but that as they say is another story )

and yes I have always missed any other children since then
and yes if a child on the pavement isnt chained to their mother then I think ' hum yeah that one could be another darter ' so you could say I have learnt from it

/// So you think he deliberately mounted an area reserved for pedestrians? ///

Not deliberately of course not, if he had done so he would have been facing a murder charge or the very least a manslaughter charge.

As it has been already pointed out to you, he was responsible for his actions that caused the death of this woman and unborn child.
// or due to a medical condition he lost control of the car. //

oops no sorry - diabetic if he went hypo I would have less sympathy and if he were blind from retinopathy ( another medical condition ) I would be censorious
and the glasgow bus thing was thro an undeclared medical condition innit

AOG would you care to rephrase ... ?

/// hey I liked the way you said it reminded you of NIMBY and then had to spell it out - just in case it didnt remind us ///

It saves one the trouble of explaining to those amongst us that don't know the meaning of the word NIMBY.

But then it seems I should not have bothered, seeing that I have to explain the obvious to you.

Reading your post further I noticed that you also felt the need to explain your use of the word 'slicers' when you could just used the correct term, number plate.

/// and yes if a child on the pavement isnt chained to their mother then I think ' hum yeah that one could be another darter ' so you could say I have learnt from it ///

I will leave other to decipher this last paragraph, I think I did well until then.

AOG You say it was NOT an accident. So that means you say it was intentional.
How do you arrive at that conclusion?
