Of course you know my views on the EU, AOG.

Alas, though, the problem highlighted here will not be abated should we leave. If we left, the remains of the EU would still have its hopelessly inadequate border controls; it would still allow millions of people to throng from the world's hell-holes; many of them will still congregate in the Channel ports and try to stow away in lorries to reach the UK; and those that who make it will still be accommodated in places like Britannia Hotels.
Those who "make it" should be returned immediately to the carrier that brought them to return to their starting point across the channel at the carrier's expense. Stowaways on lorries would trigger a charge by the government to cover the return. The few who swim/raft/walk the tunnel should be few enough to pay for the fare back. Plush accommodation ought not come into it. Holding camp overnight maybe.
Exactly OG

the money spent to ship them straight back would pale into insignificance compared to the money spent on them once they get in...

a plane or boat could be kept on permanent standby for the job, it would still be gazillions cheaper in the long run...
Would you like to describe the precise mechanism for shipping them straight back' Baz?
Cattle trucks hitched onto the eurotrains?
There will be more....many more when the likes of Turkey, Bosnia etc etc join the EU. No need for a camp or lorry then!
