DB - All I would say at this juncture would be if he is exonerated how will justice have been done for him? He served his sentenced, released early but how can any recompense equal a ruined and very promising career and emotional issues?
A fair point divebuddy - I do recall in the original debate that we had opposing views on the subject.

I think justice has already been served - he has been to jail, but as you say, let's not drag it all up again.

Maybe you will start a thread when the appeal verdict is announced - ?
//Not impossible given that Lee Hughes was signed again albeit after serving a different offence........ yep, and Luke McCormick went straight back to the game too.//

you mean that when he is out - he will play football and be a danger to all the other girlies who play for the other men's teams ?
He clearly broke the law, now must pay the penalty. As any of us minions would have to.

Opps
It doesn't sound like this creep's bothered either way.
This appears to be another case of a rather dull and immature young man who is blessed with a God-given talent, and lacks the maturity to deal with the issues that accompany the use of it.

Yes, impressionable young girls do throw themselves at famous footballers, but perhaps part of their club's coaching procedures should be advice that it is not always advisable to catch them!

Andy > Yes, impressionable young girls do throw themselves at famous footballers,

Older females maybe but let's not forget the victim in this case did not throw herself at Johnson. She idolised him yes, but being a big fan of someone and wanting a shirt signing is not the same. Johnson was guilty of grooming the girl, a very serious and different matter altogether.

Indeed - I would not for one moment compare this situation with the instances of adult young women in clubs eyeing up footballers.

This was a very different scenario, and Johnson has no moral defence whatsoever for his behaviour, even if the law is able to see its way to clearing him of one charge, he is rightly going to pay for the other one.
Yes, I realise this post has little to do with the legal or indeed human aspect of the case BUT has anyone on AB seen a picture or photograph of this naive 15year old girl who was seduced by this footballer?
Question Author
Andy, thank you for clarifying.

Sqad > BUT has anyone on AB seen a picture or photograph of this naive 15year old girl who was seduced by this footballer?

What point are you making Sqad? I might be inferring a negative unfairly?
No Sqad, but maybe the Courts have banned photos of her .....
No! no!.......just interested from a human angle.

Thanks Sqad, from accounts this was a big ordeal for the victim who broke down several times. She wasn't present at court to give evidence.

Johnson on the other hand lied eight times and was even reprimanded by the judge for joking in court as baz confirmed earliet that he was getting bored.
Question Author
Jordyboy - I ask you the same question as Sqad.
Sqd and jordy - I don't think her appearance makes any difference - do you?

I know that a standard defence used by men in cases of underage sex is 'She looked at least eighteen ...!' - but in this case, that defence is meaningless because the girl told Johnson after their initial contact that she had just turned fifteen.

So I don't think it matters if she looks like Pamela Anderson - he knew how old she was, and he went on to abuse her.

Can't see the relevance of her appearance in that scenario.
