This appears to be another case of a rather dull and immature young man who is blessed with a God-given talent, and lacks the maturity to deal with the issues that accompany the use of it.
Yes, impressionable young girls do throw themselves at famous footballers, but perhaps part of their club's coaching procedures should be advice that it is not always advisable to catch them!

Andy > Yes, impressionable young girls do throw themselves at famous footballers,
Older females maybe but let's not forget the victim in this case did not throw herself at Johnson. She idolised him yes, but being a big fan of someone and wanting a shirt signing is not the same. Johnson was guilty of grooming the girl, a very serious and different matter altogether.

Indeed - I would not for one moment compare this situation with the instances of adult young women in clubs eyeing up footballers.
This was a very different scenario, and Johnson has no moral defence whatsoever for his behaviour, even if the law is able to see its way to clearing him of one charge, he is rightly going to pay for the other one.

Sqd and jordy - I don't think her appearance makes any difference - do you?
I know that a standard defence used by men in cases of underage sex is 'She looked at least eighteen ...!' - but in this case, that defence is meaningless because the girl told Johnson after their initial contact that she had just turned fifteen.
So I don't think it matters if she looks like Pamela Anderson - he knew how old she was, and he went on to abuse her.
Can't see the relevance of her appearance in that scenario.
