Could these have been intended to be set off aboard a US bound aircraft?

I think you are a voice crying in the wilderness ( Jn 1.1 )
bit of a paschal reference there for bible readers
sp1814, less is more mate. You give the impression of padding out a badly researched essay.
PP

I hold my hands up to the Catholic reference, and you're right. It is a contender for a new Godwin's Law.

I bow sir.

/// To hang it all on Islam is a fundamental mistake we make. ///

Can anyone in Europe possibly defend Islam, except Muslims and their Muslim sympathisers of course?
I fail to understand how anyone can lay the blame for insane fanatical behaviour by a few murderers, at the feet of a worldwide religion.
andy-hughes, //I fail to understand how anyone can lay the blame for insane fanatical behaviour by a few murderers, at the feet of a worldwide religion. //

That's because, like SP, you fail to listen and learn.
Naomi - //That's because, like SP, you fail to listen and learn. //

An interesting perspective.

Incorrect, and somewhat lofty, but still interesting.
andy-hughes, not lofty at all. An accurate observation.
AOG

That's not the point I'm making.

I'm saying that terrorism isn't solely a product of Islamic fundamentalism (cf. Israel and Palestine).
SP, the Israelis aren't blowing up the rest of the world.
Khandro - //andy-hughes; You really are extremely gullible; //

Thank you for your input.

Equally lofty, equally incorrect.
Khandro
First thing the gullible will do is start rubbishing your source. Can't possibly true etc. French security propaganda splutter splutter.
A few mosque sweeps ion the UK wouldn't go amiss here in the UK either.
Retrocop,
Shoyldn't you be watching Mr Murdoch's propaganda feed? :-D

My point regarding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is that terrorist attacks by Islamic fundamentalist (in this case Hezbolla) is not always purely down to religion. In that case it's a territorial dispute.
Gromit, it’s a territorial dispute emanating from religion. No Promised Land, no dispute – and the dispute goes back to biblical times.
Sorry, that^ was to SP.
Khandro
In the recent conflict between Israel and Palestine when Hezbolla rockets were flying like bees into Israel the IDF made an incursion into the Gazza Strip.Loads of rockets and munitions were found in the mosques.
The IDF do not pussy foot around with so called religious buildings either especially as their experience tells them that Islam is a supporter of terrorism.
Back in 1956 the EOKA terrorists in Cyprus hid their arms caches in the monasteries of the Greek Orthodox church. They hid wanted fugitives like Grivas and Makarios as well.
The religion of Islam does not divorce itself from politics or terrorism.
retro; Yeah, but there are lots of sources, here's another
http://www.worldnewspolitics.com/2016/02/22/france-shut-downs-over-100-mosques-war-grade-weapons-discovered/

and there's one from the Guardian as far back as 2002 of weapons found in Finsbury Park mosque, so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

There are none so blind when the truth interferes with their warped views .
