When a woman becomes President of the USA, what would she be called?

Would it be Madam President?

And if she has a male partner, what would his title be?

If Hilary won, it's easy, because Bil Clinton will still be called Mr President (that stays with previous incumbents for life)...but assuming the Presidents fella isnt a previous President...what should be be called???

A president's wife is plain Mrs, though she has the courtesy style of First Lady. I suppose a husband would be First Gentleman.

SP - currently the first lady is FLOTUS (to go with POTUS).

So options include:
First Husband - FHOTUS (sounds sci-fi and cool?)
First Gentleman - FGOTUS (silent f to be pronounced goat-us?)

Although, if it is the first email prez you're thinking of, her husband will be referred to as Mr President, as ex-presidents are even after they leave office.

Which means there will be Mrs. President and Mr. President on some chat show at some point?

First Chap - FCOTUS (which could be a bit rude)
First Man - fMOTUS (an alternative idea to a wall, a large moat)
First Lad - FLOTUS (easy, no need to change)

The widowed mother of the sovereign has always been the Queen Mother. This a style, not a title, most, if not all preferring to use their own names, Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary etc. Queen Elizabeth incorporated it into her official title to avoid confusion with her daughter; there was nothing new about the term. Incidentally, as Queen Mary was still alive in 1952, I wonder if there is such a term as Queen Grandmother.

I believe the argument is still raging in France that in the event of a female president, should she be addressed as Madame Le Président or Madame La Présidente.

Also, my understanding is that you have to be born in the U.S.A. in order to be eligible for President.

Clinton would be Mr President, because all ex-Presidents keep that title.

But if Clinton was never President (using this couple as an example), he wouldn't be able to use tha...

I've just thought of a better title:

First Guy.

It feels a lot better on the tongue than First Gentleman (too many syllables).

As a matter of curiosity, there have been surprisingly few Queen Mothers in English history as most Queens consort either pre-deceased their husbands or were not the mother of the succeeding sovereign. Before Queen Alexandra in 1910, mother of George V, you have to go back as far as 1649 to find the previous one, Queen Henrietta-Marie, mother of Charles II. The one before that was back in 1483, Queen Elizabeth Woodville, mother of Edward V.
