Mikey, //Do you think that the electors are trying to tell him something ? //

Yes I do. That four million of them agree with him.
I'm not a fan of UKIP but I recognise that they secured as many votes at the last election as the SNP and Lib Dems combined
But Naomi....I have asked this question many times before....why can't Farage get himself elected if he is so popular ? He has, after all, tried on 5,6,or 7 occasions ( even I am losing losing count ! )
FF.......yes by coming 2nd or 3rd, and who cares or even remembers who came 2nd or 3rd ?

Could it be, like vegetarians, that UKIP enthuses but fails to persuade ?
Under the current election system parties like UKIP will always struggle to get the number of seats that bears any relation to the number of vote they receive- Labour and Tories have England stitched up, SNP and Labour (used to) share Scotland.
Who remembers coming second?

Oh yes lab... something or other wern't they called? cant remember.
fiction-factory, // I recognise that they secured as many votes at the last election as the SNP and Lib Dems combined //

Tell Mikey that for heavens sake. He should have learnt from the last election results not to be so complacent.
Because I wanted to mikey, that OK with you ???? Don't care if it's not !
You're like a cracked record, mikey. Give it a rest for gawd's sake.
viv, you must understand only the lefties on here are allowed to name call!
FFF.......what you have said may be true, but when the British people were asked just a few years ago, to depart from "first-past-the-post", the referendum was soundly defeated. So, UKIP and all the other minor parties will just have to play by the same rules as everybody else.

The Libs were in just the same position a few years ago, but still managed to go from political obscurity in the West Country, to power-sharing within a few years. The same is even more true of the SNP...they only had 6 seats in 1997 but managed to achieve 56, less than 20 years later.

But it doesn't really explain why Farage himself is so incapable of gaining a seat for himself, especially after so many attempts. He is, after all, the most recognisable of political Leaders in Britain today. He targets by-elections in seats most likely to contain potential UKIP supporters, but fails, utterly.
I know ymb, Zacs called those on here who want to vote 'out' 'illiterate xenophobes' and yet his comment remains - mad !!
viv.....you can do what you like but perhaps you should bone up on the rules of AB.....

"We understand that debates get heated, but personal attacks and abusive language will not be tolerated"

The rest of us, with one or two exceptions, seem to be able to have a debate without breaking this simple rule...why can't you ?
^Lol
Lol indeed Svejk .......
The comments on Mail Online are in the vast majority for 'out' and that's a tory paper is it not ..... ?
Viv

The Tory party are split on the EU. Always have been. Labour are also split, but not to the same extent.

As a rule for both parties, the middle ground politicians favour staying in. The further extreme right, or extreme left, then they want out.

mikey stop turning this into and electoral system issue. We are talking about a straight vote between 2 options and Nigel's 4 million will come in handy if we are to defeat the anti British and EU.
Ha ha. See I ruffled a few feathers again. Calm down dears it's only a referendum.
Thanks Ed.
