So are you happy with the idea or not, mikey?
You seriously think the stable door will be shut?

Just for once it's not the Tories in Mikey's Sights!

///President Juan Carlos Varela said Panama would work with other countries over the revelations.
"The Panamanian government, via our foreign ministry, will create an independent commission of domestic and international experts," he said in a televised address///.
Will these 'experts' be drawn from the same pool of 'experts' who ran world economies right up until 2008 then said 'nothing to do with me mate' when it all went mammaries up?
What we need is a Dickfinder General and a hanging judge to get the attention of these cheating, thieving, conniving articles.
One or two is all it would need to get the majority to fall into line since the combined forces of law and order and governments aren't interested till it appears on Facebook.

As far as I can see this is just window-dressing.

Panama and other such places have been home to this kind of fraud and crime since anyone can remember. To announce such a move at this stage is just pretending that they are doing something, when in effect, this business will continue, and earn money for the Panamanian government.
That post makes a mockery of your own OP, mikey.
people/companies etc always have and always will find ways to "hide" dosh.....loopholes etc are only closed when the people in power and those with the real money have already found other ways round impending laws etc..what , you really think they are going to shoot themselves in both feet whilst standing up !

What do people who read the book and or or saw the film The Firm was based on ?
Im sure theres plenty of other books/films on the same subject...
And what are they going to say?

Most of this was perfectly legal, so change the ruddy law.

Of course what makes these places attractive is taxation at too higher level.
David Cameron admits he profited from father's offshore fund... http://gu.com/p/4t753/stw
Indeed Jomlett,
But it was all above board, nothing illegal, his father set up a legitimate business designed to help people who wanted to 'invest in dollar denominated shares and companies'.
So he operated within the secretive but lawful arrangements.......just like Jimmy Carr did.....yet Carr was vilified. In fact, DC said he was 'morally wrong' to do so.
