I do not know the details of the history behind this particular allegation. However, there is a trap lurking which, unless avoided, greatly confuses the issue. Many/most Israelis and their supporters encourage the equating of critical questioning of any of the policies and actions of the Israeli government and military with anti-semitism. By that definition there are proud Israelis (the internal opposition) which are anti-semitic. To compare, those who are against the UK having nuclear weapons are not therefore by definition anti-British.

TTT...I will have a go if you like !
If there is indeed anti-semitism in the Labour Party, and it could be termed "institutional" then I would abhor that, as I would if it occurred in any other walk of life. I don't know enough about this subject to say for sure that it is going on though.
But we must be careful not to confuse support of the Palestinians, with anti-semitism. If its anything, than it looks likes anti-Zionism, which is the same thing at all.

Mikey, //But we must be careful not to confuse support of the Palestinians, with anti-semitism. If its anything, than it looks likes anti-Zionism, which is the same thing at all.//
I’m flabbergasted! I agree with you!!
However, having said that, whereas morally there is most certainly a case for supporting the Palestinian cause, in the current climate there is no justification for supporting the Palestinians because that is not a sensible thing to do. Therefore it seems to me that those members of the Labour party who continue to cling to their idealistic notions are not living in the real world. Israel is established. It isn’t going anywhere.

that might depend on how far that "support" for the palestinians - and Hamas - extends. if it goes so far as to support Hamas policy of wiping israel (and presumably its people) from the map then it IS the same thing. murder is murder, regardless of in whose name it is committed.
