Oh FYI - I rarely work in the late afternoon because the teams I manage are offshore in Philadelphia and Bangalore...so my core hours are from 04:00am to midday and then from about mid evening until I go to bed.
But honest, my employers aren't idiots. I think we both know why you would assume that...but believe me - it give value. That's why I've just been promoted (that the thing that happened to the other people you used to work with)

To be fair to AOG, he's levelled that at me before - and it's understandable because there are 'dead spots' in my working day when my teams are at lunch, or I'm travelling up to one of our data centres.
I'm not fussed with putting him right. He thinks that my employers are idiots to pay me to loaf but I'm happy to put him right on the ocassions when he asserts this.
I totally understand how easy it is to forget stuff.
